13 New Year’s Resolutions for 2022 | A New Beginning

Hi everyone

I am so sorry I haven’t been writing regularly but I just haven’t felt inspired too. But as the end of the year approaches, I thought it would be a great time to write my New Years Resolutions for 2022. I can’t believe it will be 2022 next year! I hope it will be a better year than this year. This year was kind of crap, to be honest. How was 2021 for you?

Here are my top 13 new years resolutons for 2022:

1. Save more money

This year I spent way too much more than half my income and that is bad. I started running an Adelaide Foodies Meetup group on Facebook and that is where I spend most of my money. I need to not go out as much next year and cut down on eating out. Or spend less on me like on retail therapy and just eat out more. I have been reading the Barefoot Investors book, which has been useful but it also doesn’t suit my lifestyle but it does give some useful tips on how to save money and so I need to be more disciplined when it comes to budgeting next year.

2. Finish my nursing studies

I was meant to finish my Diploma of Nursing this year but because I have been sick and had a mental breakdown I decided to delay my 6-week hospital placement to next year in February. I have also been procrastinating doing my written assignments that I still need to do for two more subjects. I was meant to redo them this year but I have this anxiety about it and I tend to avoid doing my assignments. But next year I definitely need to finish my nursing course. I will reward myself for finishing it like going on a holiday interstate or overseas when it is safe. i need to reward myself, which is sad but it is the only way that will get me to finish it as I have a love/hate relationship with my nursing course.

3. Spend more time with my sister and nieces

So, my sister and I never got along growing up as my sister can be a bit critical and bossy. We always fought and I would cry as I am sensitive. But because she got kids now she has become more understanding and we have started to talk a bit more but we still don’t talk as much only when we have weekly family dinners. Next year, I would like to spend more time with my sister and my two nieces either inviting them over to my house more as they have hardly been to my house this year. I felt bad for not being able to organise anything but I guess it’s also really hard with the children. I also want to be able to have my sister trust me in childminding so I am able to spend more time with my nieces.

4. Learn something new

This year, I did not learn anything new. I started to paint a bit more but that is about it and so I really want to start a new hobby or join a club. It’s good for the mind and soul so I think 2022 should be about getting out of your comfort zone.

5. Update my blog regularly

I probably say this every year but I want to update my blog regularly like have certain days a week where I will write in my blog. Just to gain more interest and it is something I like to do too. This year, I hardly wrote in my blog so I felt a bit bad as I didn’t have motivation due to my mental health not being good and also lots of things going on in my life. Next year, I hope to write more food content and also lifestyle posts.

6. Be more positive

I say this to myself every day so it is kind of like a daily goal but I definitely want to be more positive next year as this year my mental health sucked to be honest. But I got help from doctors, a specialist and a psychologist so it has definitely made me a better person and I have worked hard this year to improve my mental health and my lifestyle but next year I just want to be more positive and have less mental breakdowns.

7. Drink more water

I don’t drink enough water as I should so I want to make it my goal to drink 2L of water a day. I think I only drink 30 ml of water a day but I have cups of teas and other types of drinks in between so that could be included in my fluid intake but water is the best for you as it keeps you hydrated so I want to drink 2L of water every day.

8. Be more confident talking to guys

Growing up, I was never confident in talking to guys as I went to an all-girls school and I only had my sister. I also had only girlfriends no guy friends so I didn’t really have a boyfriend until I was in my 20s, which is so late to have one. I wish I had more experience with guys but I would always be teased by the boys in my primary school and so that left me a bit reserved around them. So next year I want to be more confident talking to guys. I think I have been this year as I have made some guy friends this year but I want to make more guy friends and be more confident.

9. Go to Sydney

I really want to go to Sydney as it’s been ages since I have been to Sydney and Sydney should be safe compared to Melbourne so I want to go to Sydney first as I am fully vaccinated and will be getting my booster soon so I will be safe to travel. That could be my reward for finishing my nursing is to go to Sydney with maybe my foodie friends as there is a lot of restaurants/cafes I want to try in Sydney.

10. Wake up at 5:30 am every day

This year, I have been running late for work most days because I either get up an hour before I have to get to work and usually I need two or three hours to get moving so I want to try to wake up at 5:00 am or 5:30 am every day so I have more time to do stuff in the morning like meditation, journaling, and exercise. I can allow myself to sleep on the weekends but during the week I want to wake up at 5:00 am or 5:30 am. I think if I wake up at 5:00 am or 5:30 am every day then I will get used to it and I won’t get tired as much during the day. I also need to sleep earlier to be able to get the right amount of sleep.

11. Be punctual

I want to start being more punctual as I have been running late most days to social events and so I hate the feeling of being late so I want to try to be punctual to events and to work as well.

12. Go for 10-15 minute walks every day

I wanted to do this goal this year but I never got around to doing it as I felt like I walked too much at work then when I got home I would be too tired to do anything. But I am going to try to motivate myself to walk 10-15 minutes every day excluding walking at work as I just went for a 10-minute walk just now around the block and I felt good about doing it. I now have more energy and I would probably sleep better too if I went for a walk at 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM each night before it gets dark.

13. Read 10 minutes a day

I want to start reading more by just starting off with 10 minutes a day. I started doing this goal this year but I never stuck to it and so I want to do it regularly and to read more variety of books. I borrowed some fictional books from the library so I want to start reading those.

Well, that’s all that I can think of at the moment and that’s enough goals to start off with for 2022 otherwise it can be a bit overwhelming. What are your new year’s resolutions for 2022? And do you stick to them? I tend to not stick to new years resolutions but I do want to try next year. May 2022 be a better year for us all!

Love Nat xo
